I'm not sure you could get a lot for £50. Maybe something from Marantz. You will have to go second-hand for sure. I always fancied one of the classic Nad cd players, the sort that looks like the 3020 integrated amp. Not sure if it sounds any good though.

Check ebay and similar......you can get a pretty good second hand cdp for that ammount

the second one at 50p is a real winner ....probabley go for £25

these denons are very good I've a dcd 960 that I use as a test bed for tweaks.

All you then need to do is have a look at my article .........above in the artcles section on modding cdp's

A brilliant CD player for its time and price point. Depends on what music you like though. This player's weak point is its bass is a bit slow and lacks propulsion. However it really finds the soul of the music. So depending on what music you like and the rest of your gear it may or may not match.

Personally I would prefer the Rotel with your gear over many others because your amp and speakers are both lively and the Rotel would balance that. However you may well prefer something more upbeat, depends on what you listen to and what you want from you hifi.

    what he said ^

I'd go for the rotel if you think CD players sound harsh (because that one is laid back)

I'd go for Zanash's Marantz if you want things a bit more zippy

go for denon's 835, its quite new and multibit, sounds quite good and will match your amp perfectly.
just sold mine for About £70 and worht every penny.

At that price I would get a Sony. I had a CDP-XE300 and it was very good for the money. Too many cheap players that try to sound detailed and clean but only end up sounding harsh. The Sony has a well judged sound that is smooth enough not to offend but still enjoyable to listen to.

I used to and still have a Rotel RCD-965BX and used to listen to nothing but Rock. On the day i bought the Rotel (a loooong time ago now) I bought apetite for destruction one the same day as my first CD :D Personally I find mission speakers a bit much in the treble (but i am very senstive to that). A slightly better match might be a Marantz CD52 SE - not as natural or musical as the Rotel, but can rock a bit better. Better yet a CD72 went for 43 quid plus postage on ebay. If you wait a bargain will come.

Yeh good transports. Legato link as found on most of the stable platter players is not to everyones taste and doenst always perform uniformly from disc to disc.
Personally i dont like Sonys, but everyone is different :)
