Budget kit

Hi.

A friend of mine is looking to replace his dying mini system.

I told him I'd have a sniff about to give him an idea what he could get.

Probably just looking for cdp/amp/speakers. And don't think he'll be looking to spend much - £300 ish

So anyone got anything?

 

I have an Exposure X integrated with MC input lying about unused. He could have that for £100. Should work well with most budget gubbins.

 

If he wanted a squeezebox type system and already has a computer, I could do a system using different components and active speakers for under £300 or if you wanted an amp and speakers, I could look into pricing for just the player itself.

Edit: Hope this is ok with the Mods, is it ok to reply to ads on the private section?

 

Does he want a hifi system or does he want to listen to MP3s?

He's after CDP, Amp, and Speakers.

It'll be a bedroom system (medium size). Doubt much care will be taken over set up/positioning etc...

The ability to play a tine will be MOre relevent than anything "hifi"

Listens largely to "indie" and some electro.

Don't know if this is way off the makr but I am shortly going to sell my Sony DAVS550 home cinema rig (5 speakers plus sub and a single unit for CD/DVD with built in tuner). Is this of any use - probably look for around £160 plus P&P. The item has all original packaging, remote and manuals etc.

Apologies if way off the mark but you never know until you try!

 

Spares I got laid about are:

Marantz PM4200 amp in black as new with manual & system remote comander but no box,

Pioneer PD 7700 cd player in black, fair condition & perfect working order with remote,

Technics ST-G5L tuner in fair condition, couple of small scratches on top but works perfectly, no box.

Aiwa double cassette deck in good condition, no box,

Tannoy 631 SE speakers in beech with silver Gale spiked 3 column stands.

I'll take £130 for the lot plus delivery, or if your not to far from me and pay petrol I'll deliver em
