Hi, this is my first post. :)

Just moved house and came across my old Burmester 785 Pre-Amp.

It was quite a respectable pre-amp in its day.

Is it worth repairing? If so, can anybody recommend a suitable person to undertake it?

    It's a heavy beast.

The postage could be more than it's worth. :(

In that case speak to JJ at Sounds of Music in Tunbridge Wells... Isn't he the importer, as Metropolis Music?

    Hi,

Metropolis Music don't seem to do Burmester anymore. It is not on there product list. There is no one doing it in the UK at the moment according to the Burnmester website.

But it is worth contacting Metropolis Music or Sounds of Music as they might be able to sort you out.

Depending what's wrong with it, a decent engineer may be able to sort it out.

Burmester have been imported by a few companies over the years. They never had the same sucess as some other high end brands. If I remember right, Absolute sounds used to import them in the early 80s.

    Thanks for the input.

I think I bought the Burmester from Subjective Audio in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
