Max Townshend has put this on Youtube:

You can apparently have your speaker cable tested at the show this weekend.

oh dear the anti cable brigade will try to get it pulled from u tube ...as it will topple there theory that all cables sound the same ...now you have visual proof ...

actually this has been around for years ....most naysays say its a fix a slight of hand ....

what I thought was odd was that the length of time that you got to look at the straight responce close up was less [seemed less ] than the distored version ? or am I seeing things

Well, Max will be at the Heathrow show from tomorrow, so anyone can talk to him about it.

Ok, so there's an effect. Maybe it's measurable.

    However, the questions include:

does it affect the sound that you hear?
is that effect consistent with the 'visible' effect? (e.g. bigger variation from 'perfect' sounds worse/better)
does the sound from the zero-effect cable justify the price against the alternatives?

Max is an engineer, he looks for engineering solutions to issues and problems in audio replay. Go and hear his stuff at the show, if nothing else he'll be entertaining. At least he's made an attempt to demonstrate a problem for which he claims to have engineered a solution.

he got his ass handed to him from about 4:30 on Saturday by someone who obviously had a much better background and training in cables, electronics and signal propagation.

    There was foo flying.

Did MC have anything to say that might be of use/interest to those who weren't there?

I try and stay out of technical debates due to a very evident lack of technical knowledge.

I was interested to see in Max's video that what looked to be a pretty normal audio cable (the thick pink one) was almost as flat as the mega buck townsend one.

A good case for properly made and measured cables by reputable studio firms if you ask me.

The audiophile pink one looked to measure like crap. I wonder if this is a matching thing, or if it's just a load of old bananas.
