Just seen a link to this:

    http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/summary.php?PID=28&Title=Azur+540P

I have reservations about CA's quality as friends who have owned their equipment have had problems in equipment lasting through the initial month of use.

Just wondered if anyone has any working knowledge of this phono amp and whether anyone has tweaked it (if so, what mods can be done)?

On that page it says the power supply is external, so presumably room for improvement there with a better DIY effort....

For £40 I'd buy one! I've got a couple of their amps knocking about somewhere, they're actually pretty good I think, considering what I paid for them. I might get one for the case, haven't seen a box like that for £40 anywhere

I thought that they looked pretty neat too. I think that the case is actually quite a small 'half size' unit, at first i thought the Phono stage was a full size 430mm wide one , but i don't think it is. The picture is quite deceptive in this respect.
I reckon that housing a seperate DIY PSU in a second case to sit along side would be pretty neat though ? I'm surprised Cambridge haven't cottoned on to this themselves, they could call it an SE or signature model and charge a premium for doing so....

Yes, that thought had crossed my mind, still a neat box though, most phono circuits are pretty small, I could put my tube circuit in I should think, with an external supply.

EDIT: You just edited and said that

yes, a pair of those boxes and a blue LED, it'd look a fair bit like the WAD stage, except wide.

Well maybe I will just run down to my Richer Sounds and pick one up. I have had the Pro-Ject entry level phono box before which is OK, so I will see how the Cambridge Audio compares.
