OK, it's a bit weird...! I admit it.

I just bought it on vinyl from Amazon and it is astonishing. The recorded level is fabulous as you would expect from a 1970 album or whenever it was initially released. The sound is amazing with everything being so well recorded. I guess that was something to do with the full moon at the time of recording or so Mr Daevid Allen would have you believe.

If you are a fan of the Canterbury scene and it's many bands, I very definitely recommend this album on vinyl. It goes down extremely well with the new DL160 and would probably be made a lot better with a spliff.

I remember buying that album at a Gong gig in Bradford. I think it was 10/6 at the time (55p)
    Seriously weird.

Didier Malherbe is still incredible though!

It was a special offer at the time. Most albums were quite a bit more, but they did that album as a special price.

Gong... I remember living in student accommodation with this stoner, partying at the back of our big Victorian Terrace in Stoke, this huge throng of drunk people all smoking hash and waiting for the sunrise to come up over the banking at the back of the property (how bloody new age?). The great unwashed and tie dyed crusties mainly from London. The soundtrack was Gong.. Couldnt stand the bloke, classic Trustafarian, a drop out with minted parents. He was stoned but not that stoned that he didn't leave me to face the music when the police arrived with dogs and took my details.

So would I like to hear Gong? - probably not ;)

It's a great album. The first Gong album that is worth listening to IMHO (Magick Brother & Continental Circus are a bit hit or miss).

"You Can't Kill Me" has some great guitar work from Daevid Allen.

The scary thing is that Daevid Allen is very anti drugs....

I did hear that the album was only recorded during certain phases of the moon's lunar cycle...??? Maybe that has something to do with why it is such a brilliant piece of work...??? The more I listen to it the better it sounds. Again though, I am listening via my new Denon DL160 and that really is truly brilliant. What a bargain...?

I've also owned the album since it's first release in the 70s:shame:
It's a great album, never got to see them live unfortunately.

I know it was true for the "Radio Gnome Invisible" trilogy.

You've got to buy "You" or "Live etc" next, they really cook. :MILD:
