I got a decent scart lead from a backstreet electronics shop in Stockport for £8. It has OFC free cable, it is the 21 pin type rather than just RGB but each cable is really thick. The make was Skytronics. I don't know how good it compared to expensive ones but its much better than the free ones. Colour had better contrast. I don't know about sound as the sound comes out from phonos anyway.
Yup, don't waste money on anything fancy - got to Maplin and buy a boggo cable. I have tried all kinds of scarts and have yet to find any difference whatsoever. I think the problem is the design of the plugs. Just my opinion you understand!
Yup, agree about screening but you cannot get over the crap design of the things in the first place! I'm one of those smug buggers with a plasma and I use individual high quality runs for R/G/B/S with standard computer video cable from the Sky+ box to the VGA din socket fed from a syncblaster - excellent piece of kit from Keene Electronics. Anyway I'm rambling off subject........... Dont buy anything more expensive than a QED and even that really has no discernable difference over a boggo cable.....IMHO
