    Hi,
I'm looking to replace my aging Shelter 501 for the following system:
    VPI Scout/JMW9
    Whest P.S.30R Phono Amp
    Musical Fidelity A3CR Pre
    2xMusical Fidelity A3CR Power
    ProAc Response D15

I've been considering Dynavector 10x/20x/17D3, Benz Micro Ace/Glider, Denon DL-103R and Sumiko Blackbird.
I listen mostly to rock and pop and would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

I'd exclude one or two on your list for lack of basic technical ability but here are a few suggestions. Most cartridges have a distinct sonic signature rather like, though less obvious than, speakers so it will ultimately come down to what you prefer.

Dynavector DV17 - clean crisp and articulate. Ruler flat response and low distortion right to end of side. On a good good deck this is probably the closest vinyl gets to sounding like good digital.

Lyra Dorian/Argo - Vivid and colourful cartridges with first rate dynamics and transparency. Bright though with an obviously rising top end so they suit some systems and ears more than others. Brightness aside these are high end cartridges at moderate prices.

Audio Technica AT33PTG - seriously good and seriously under priced. Technically brilliant and superb low distortion right across the disc. Tiny rise at the very top but otherwise very even.

All are medium/low compliance and suit all but low mass arms.

I use one and that is my second. When that wears out I'll be buying another.
If you can download & play wav files I can send you some high quality sample files from the AT.

I have an AudioAT33EV a very good Cart. I also have an ORTOFON Rondo Bronze another good Cart.Ihave owned a Benz
Glider very good but beware easy to damage i know 500 Dollars change over. The list goes on with good Carts but i dont think you could go far wrong with the Audio Technica.
