Any recommendations for a bassy, warm sounding cartridge for around £400 from any supplier not just UK based?

Clearaudio Aurum Beta S. I wouldn't say warm in that cuddly Quad 2 sort of way, but very natural and un-forced..
I also find it excavates the depths very well indeed, and without any low-voltage piddling about - being a bit on the MM side.
So £300 (which is top whack for an MM), with £100 for sex'n'drugs'n'rock'n'roll.

Is the wood bodied version warmer?

(or is that only if you set light to it :D )

No, really, serious question - they come in stainless steel and wood - the wood having less mass - and warmer sound?

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record... ;)

DL103R: 250 US bucks from Audiocubes.com or a 103Pro from Eifl in Japan.

The R is a very noticable step up over the cooking 103 (itself a real corker of a cartridge) and for around 150 quid is something of a bargain.

When Les at Walrus was setting up my NAS, just before I took it home, he had a listen to my old 103 - 'Bit nice this isn't it - never realised what a good cartridge it would be'

    'Oh yes' says I :)

    The R's a fair bit better. ;)

I didn't know there was a wood version available!
So to answer your question, no idea...
    Sounds great in stainless though!

    yeah that too.

MM has warmth and breadth most often, and thats a good un.

NB An Ortofohn MC15 super II sounds exactly the same as a Kontrapunkt B. I upgraded (make that side-graded) and couldnt tell them apart.
