Can anyone recommend or list CD players with pre outs for direct connection to amplifier?

It can be new or second hand but nothing over £1500.

    I thank you.

The Quad 99CDP is supposed to be quite excellent. And I believe it can go straight to a power amp.
I haven't heard it (but considered buying it before taking the DAC road). I'm sure there's many more here who'll have a better clue than me though ;).
Oh and it's well below your budget. Lots left to buy one of those new fangled Nordost power cords  ;).

I have heard the Quad and it is very good value for money, well worth listening to.

Another option would be a s/h wadia but that would be pushing it for £1500.

    Cheers, Robbo

quads and wads already mentioned :)

Shanling also, although not heard yet.

another option - how about getting a vol control put on your pwr amp?

Thanks guys, I am trying to find options to suit.

Original plan was to get the ATC CA2 pre amp but unformtunatelt not been able to find a S/H one.

The reason for now wanting a CD with a pre is that, hopefully this solution will give a cleaner signal path. This will replace (for two channel purposes) a Pioneer 656 although ok for what it is, I have heard better.

Hence going this route will reduce the number of boxes (because I tend to move jobs pn average every year).

BTW am using a Rotel RB1090 and JM Labs Cobalt 816.

The Quad is very good .....[even if I say so myself !]
At julien's the other week it fairly bounced along giving the expensive Naim's a serious run for there money. With the added dac inputs and variable pre outs makes it stonkingly good value IMO.

The Advantage can be orded to ship with analog outs and sounds fantastic, really open and live sounding. Not sure of the costs and distributers etc for the UK but well worth traking down.

The linn Genki has both fixed and variable outputs. A good sounding player for £1,100 IMO too, and also comes with the excellent Linn Black interconnect. Would leave more than a few quid left for new CDs.

    Cheers.

You can pick one up s/h or x-dem much cheaper [£650'ish] and they're a good little player - very natural. I had one for 2 years and she served me very well but IME it's better with a dedicated pre amp. I tried running a Rotel 991 and B&W CDM7NT's with it but it just broke up at higher levels.

I'd put my money on the Quad :Quad:.

I'm a new but very happy owner of one! And it can be connected directly to a power amp.

Sounds of Music in Tunbridge Wells (www.soundsofmusic.co.uk) are the distributors AFAIK, though they are about £3.2k new - mine cost a bit more than £1.5k 2nd hand..
