My much loved cheapo Sony cd player is slowly dying, so I shall be on the lookout for a new transport to feed my Superdac.

I'll have up to £500-600 to spend and would prefer something with an XLR output, meaning I can connect PC, MD and CD all to the dac.

Not fussed what it is, old or new, cdp or transport, just want ideas of some models to look out for.

    Fire away please,
    Phill

Do you mean an XLR balanced analogue out, or an AES/EBU digital out?

Tag McClaren CDT20R has AES/EBU out, and should be available used within your budget..

Hmmm, not sure... I'd like to know too, to complement the superDAC that I've just bought...

Shameless plug I know, and if anyone's got any objections I'll pull it, but I've got something that may be of interest!
It's a Denon DCD-3520 player, it used to be tehri top of the range in the early 90's, and weighs about 20kg. It's got everything you could ask for, and it's built like a battleship. Its got XLR outs, and the transport section is fantastic. Mail me for more details, but I'd only want £100 for the beast.

You could look for a old working micromega Drive transport, they have AES/EBU,plus XLR.A drive 1 should be around £150 odd.
