    Simple question;
    Anyone done/compared the upgrade from Cyrus CD6 to CD8?
    Worth doing? The little insider info I at at the mo suggests not.
    CD6 value £300, £600 new. Conversion £400 plus. Peeps say the difference is just a difference, if you know what I mean.

    To be honest it sounds dam fine now, but you know why I'm asking,:MILD:

    Cyclone, I've got a CD6 in my bedroom system which is okayish, but the 8 is a waste of money IMO, good hi-fi but bobbins music.

    The CD8 has a noisy transport. Ruins late night, low level music enjoyment!

    Can't say I've ever noticed this. My CD8 replaced an elderly Mission DAD5/Meridian 203 combo which was intrusively noisy at late night levels so this is a characteristic I was sensitive to when buying a new player. It is a bit on the bright side, even with PSXR (which impoves it considerably overall) but I'd be hard pushed to detect noise from the transport.
