    Hi folks,

been sourcing cdp, TT & amp to work with my LS3 5a's.

Getting a Planar III, & a Creek 5350SE amp. Both are used, the amp still under warranty.

Budget for the cdp £300 - £400, & it may be kept for a long time. I can either go for a new one or a higher-quality used one.

Available used is a Quad 66, Rega Jupiter, Arcam Alpha8, Musical FidelityA3.

Or there's about 4 new types on Superfi.

    Suggestions please?

A leak Stereo 20 and a pioneer pioneer D6 CD player and a passive pre. Too much power with LS3 5a's tend to congest the sound.

...or have a word with zanash, see if he still has one of his modded A5s.

    Recommended.

cyrus CD7 is a good bit of kit, rega planet, any of the decent midrange SONY's that use the fixed pickup mechanism (they sound damn good)

marantz, that kinda money would get you a second hand CD17 or the like.

It really boils more down to what kind of sound you want from your player. With your speakers and amp, the fast and upbeat nature of the rega and cyrus players would work well.

You won't like this but a Cambridge 640C. I've played with all sorts but have settled here. Spend the rest of your money on CD's.
The Cambridge is extraordinary value for money
