I have my beady eye on an ACCUPHASE DP-55V CD PLAYER on E-Pay, mainly because I like the idea of being able to use the DAC section by other external devices.

Are there any other 'notable' CDPlayers that offer the same option? Ive heard that the QUAD 99 can do this, but Im unsure if it is good enough compared to my price option players (1500 - 2200).

    Is the accuphase any good???

Are there any good players with seperate digi inputs AND internal pre-amp sections? If so I would sell my electrcop amps and but a better power amp with the funds.

    tnx //lamboy

Various Wadia one box players do (WM is the man to ask, obviously...)

    Krell players do.

That Audio Analogue one (Maestro?) does...

That's all I can think of...

I know the wad has volume, but does it have switchable inputs too?

And more importantly can I get a good wadia at my price point? I heard the 301?? And quite frankly the stage was sunk into a thin line and sounded compressed (maybe a little harsh of me it was still good, but not as good as the other players I was demoing at the time) - and I played it direct to a pre amp (but it was a lovely MLevinson! - so dont say "you shoulda tried it direct to power", 'cause that wont wash. Or do people beleive that a cdp pre-amp (likely sharing the same psu as the player) has a better pre amp section that the ML?

Anyway i dont want to stray to off topic.

Accuphase? and input laden cdp? please //tnx

    Lamboy,

Most Wadia players have digital inputs as standard, although it was an option on some of the cheaper players. I guess at your price range you are looking at a s/h 830/850 player which may not give you the sound you are looking for, if imaging and stage are a priority.

    Cheers, Robbo

The latest Quad 99CD-P has 4 digital inputs and a fixed output or a variable output. All for £1000. Join the queue though.

    ?

B&B in Reading have 'em available

The guys in there think that the Quad is the best thing since school dinners. I went in looking at a Linn Classik and he ended up trying to flog me a Quad system and a big fok off pair of ATC's. I was going to listen to some stuff, but he was sniffing too close to my wallet for my liking.....

Other guys have reported a waiting list.

DaveWit on HFC has one and loves it. He doesn't think it is as good as his Meridian, but is damn close and better VFM.

I feel Lamboy is more of hifi guy, a must listen to if I was that way inclined, cd plyers with inputs, AA Capitole MKI, maybe an Advantage S1, The Wadia 301 in my book aint really a 'Wadia', although a Merlin style power Chord turns a 301 into a passable beast, although should be buckets loads coming on the market now, as it's no longer made :D
The 302, the replacement non longer uses the stable platter mech :) (hoo ray), but instead the new Phillips one, with digital sevro control, and different control software, whats it sound like, no idea :D but the banged price up, naughty boys  Wm

Accuphase equipment is Good, top quality Build, excellent internal architecture and modual build (and repsonds very well to tweeking), Have owned a DPV 55 ? very good, a fair trade off between the 2 usual suspects of music/hifi, Tis worth a home audition from Uncle John :) Tone
