I certainly know that one. It's really frustrating when one disagrees radically with a policy that one thinks is very damaging but can't do anything about it.

I also object to the disempowering of parliament that has and is taking place under the present government.

Nevertheless, it is a democracy, the people do decide (some of them anyway) and I comfort myself with the thought that I can go to bed at night safe in the knowledge that the state police aren't going to come in the middle of the night and cart off me, my friends or family. There are many countries where that can't be said.

PS: In the interests of truth and, though it won't make me popular to say so, I have to say that I don't believe that George W Bush is evil or that he's Blair's puppet-master.

Your right ... George W Bush is stupid and Dick Cheney is his puppetmaster. Blair is an opportunist.

Iranian TV Drama Series about Israeli Government Stealing Palestinian Children's Eyes

I mention this because it illustrates well how extremely oppressive regimes (Iran in this case) instill fear and the idea of an external common enemy in the minds of their people. It is also a precise example of the sort of television programme that we have been discussing.

Iranian state television (of course there is only Iranian state television) is broadcasting a weekly television series called "Zahra's Blue Eyes". This tells the story of how Israelis steal the eyes from Palestinian children to use in transplant operations.

Even though this is fiction, many Iranians will undoubtably believe it to be true. It goes withyout saying that, while Iran sponsors terrorists like Hezbollah (who have the destruction of Israel as their stated aim), such a programme does little to promote peace in the Middle East.

Would this programme be legal in the UK?

Steve, I think you are missing your own point here. Yes it would be legal (though it probably wouldn't be broadcast and vile though it is) and it would cause a storm ... and that's the point. Where you have censorship, the alternative voices are silenced. By advocating the banning and censorship of artists and the media you wind up with a situation closer to the Iranian one than that which you should find in a democratic state where freedom of speech is one of the foundation stones.

Cambridge P110: Yes, possibly. Why are you selling it?

Garage: I've still got some stuff. What are you looking for (and don't say a Cambridge P110)

PS: By coincidence, I was looking through some stuff, this morning and I came across some interconnects. Yours I think. :shame:
