I'm looking for a modestly priced valve power amp (not integrated) max probably around £600, preferably less, to power some Tannoy Lancasters (15in monitor golds, 92db).

Anything out there? Would probably need to be minimum 20w or so as these Tannoys are less efficient than very early or current models.

I did see this one, but (according to the listing) it's triode connected, won't that drop the power down to about 10w? Or am I mistaken?

Sorry, pal. Just wanted to help a little bit :). Check these dealers:

Both the Unison Research 30k and the Counterpoint SA-12 are amazing bargains. Contact them, since they usually have lots of trade-ins waiting for an owner.

This is a very good place too. See if there's something that floats your boat:

Keep an eye on Definitive's Audio used equip. They've got a big customer network, so they can help you with your purchase. A demo would be a once-in-a-life experience by all means. Incredibly knowledgeable, but humble and honest people.

    Hope this helps.

Top advice Vincula - good on you mate. The audio emotion boys are fantastic to deal with and bigearsaudio always has interesting kit.
