I still keep thinking about valves, and whether or not they'd do it for me.
Saw these on ebay today valves
Anyone know anything about them. Are they worth a punt at that price?

    Lord,

I saw a integrated valve amp on ebay a few weeks ago for about £155. Similar story, made in China, looked OK etc. etc. So what was differant about these? They were being shipped from sunny Nottingham so I shouldnt see any problem with having a listen first. Of course I have just had a look and cant see them at the moment but might be worth keeping an eye on the ads to see if there are any more.

    Paul.

If they're coming from Nottingham someone is making on them already, so at that price they may not be that great. That one looks to have pretty epic power supplys so should be very good, unless it's fresh air in those biscuit tins on top. We'll see what I do. I might make a decision later!

    As a slight cautionary tale..........

I followed a thread on PFM whereby Robert bought a valve power amp from them.

He was very pleased initially, but it did blow up as the valves were not calibrated (is it bias or summat like that) correctly, hence they were drawing to much current.

The blurb did say they were auto biasing, but this was not the case.

He seemed happy with the product sonically, it might just be wise to get a grown up to check all is setup correctly when it arrives in the UK

    Heres a link to PFM...........

cheers snowflake. I'd found reports of problems with that amp. I'm looking at an alternative now. Maybe news later this afternoon!

Jesus...H...Christ!! That power supply is surely unnecessary on a push-pull?...which makes you wonder if the amp hasn't been designed very well
