How often does that happen then? (just kidding)

I was out Sunday morning before last. It was so cold the gear shifting would not work, with the chain stuck on something much to small for comfort.

    Stayed in bed yesterday.

haha not very much at the moment hence the skier has been out, although I've done neither for a little while. Too lazy at this time of year...although maybe not as lazy as you...watching the tdf finish on tv when its just down the road...unbelievable! ;)

Well I like Tescos value chocolate, about 30p a bar. It tastes just like the stuff they make Easter eggs out of.

Well I have to say, Tom, I have gotten me some of the 40% and 60% stuff.

Its an acquired taste I think, neither too sweet or too bitter/gritty, but I can't help thinking it seems a bit bland, now I reckon this is me, us as in brits, having been used to sweet milky chocolate, now we get some real stuff, and I can't really appreciate it as my palate has been conditioned.

not quite my cup o tea yet.

It is indeed an acquired taste. Kids are raised on milk chocolate, milder on the palate. 40% is a good start.

Tells the men from the boys :D

Update: Got to Lidl and had a bar of the Amazonian 60% cocoa stuff. Very good, and amazingly cheap. I'll be going back for (much) more. :D

About 65%-70% cocoa is the maximum you want for dark chocolate - any more than that and it just gets horrendously, inedibly powdery (Lindt Excellence 85% is pretty grim, for example).

Although I'm addicted to high-content stuff, I agree that there's not much to be gained from going over 70%.

Lindt is pretty grim anyway. Ever tried their 99%. You can get some excellent German at 83% but unfortunately I can't remember the name. It was £3.50 / 100 gm which kinda puts it in perspective. I'm going back to Lidl.
