I really like the DAC 64. Its a fabulous dac.

The system that is linked to in the ad though.. DAC 64 aside YUKKK, is there a worse way to spend 10k?

Have asked the chap if its mk1 or 2.... his buy it now price is a bit steep as I've seen ex-demo ones advertised with a 2yr guarantee for £1300.

I wouldn't know about that alan.

Posted this as thought it might interest someone, and thought they were a bit hard to come by. I have no need or want of one and have no connection with the seller.

I thought BIN only disappeared when the bidding reached or exceeded the BIN price? Has been the case in my auctions  .

I'm always wary of ads that don't have pictures of the actual item and he seems to be overselling it aswell but it looks genuine enough. It's going to be bought by someone who knows what a DAC64 is and has been looking for one so I really don't see the point of all the selling hype when he has missed out vital information such as whether it's a MkI or MkII  .

No reserve aswell, which is surprising but I guess he could always pull the auction at the last minute if the price wasn't right.

    Michael.

Micheal - that used to happen on Yahoo auctions, with eBay auctions is dissapears when the reserve is met, if there is a reserve. The reserve is usually set well below the BIN price though.

He must have had a pretty low reserve then. If I was selling my DAC64 I'd put the reserve at over £1000.

It was a no reserve auction, the buy it now price will only stay past the opening bid if a reserve has been specified...

I'm surprised the opening was set to £500 in that case......

Just heard back from the seller - its a Mk. 1 version, and he does not have the original boxes.

I might think about it but won't go too far.... I just got my Shanling SACD player the other day and its pretty damn good so far so might not be looking for a DAC anymore.
I'll watch and see what happens.... if it goes above £1000 I certainly won't be interested as I'd prefer to get the boxes and a guarantee with an ex-demo one.

It is very good DAC though, I had one on loan for a few weeks and was very impressed.

I noticed the seller has just bought a ML 390s, just outbidding a certain SKP574 !

I would be tempted at this price, but there are few bargains on ebay, so it will probably go for nearer £1000.

A lot of people seem to sell DACs that they have only had for a few weeks. Could it be the case that some make very little difference, while others reveal a lot more detail but end up being too overbearing when listened to long and loud?

one thing with Audio Salon, they will not allow a home trial when bought online. Infact they kinda ignore requests to return kit.

I don't think it's really necessary to do that sort of advertising for them here, either. Are you sure you don't work for them? You do seem to bang on about them an awful lot.

Andy was not aware of this thought they had a 7/21 day policy.

Ian bit like Issac and JJ, just a happy customer, but really posted this as thought they had some stuff that would interest others. I work for a drug company and don't have the time for moonlighting.

Will not plug AS anymore. :)

I thought the same Paul, until you try to use it.
Maybe if really pushed they might, but was enough to put me off.
