Looking to buy a couple speakers to be powered by a 300watt line 6 flextone HD guitar head. PA will be only used for solo acoustic guitar, both steel string and classical.
Hoping to find a pair for under $250 US. Gemini and gemsound seem cheap with similar specs to more expensive speakers. Are they any good, or reliable?

Also, would it be better to have speakers less than 150w/side or more for optimum performance from the amp?

    Thanks

gemmini etc are cheap disco toys, not great sounding, dont take to being chucked in and out of the van on a regular bases and tend to burn out with even with the slightest overload.
If budget is tight ive heard good things about the thoman "the box" range, but would suggest trying to increase the budget
As for amp power try and use amps with at least a 1/3 higher power rating than the speakers.
Finally for somewhere that discusses proper pa toys have a look at the http://www.blue-room.org.uk/
o and the attached piccy is the rig i get to play with fairly regularly,a mixture of EAW,martin lab gruppen and dolby lake,it sounds rather nice

IMO cheap PA is a big mistake. Get the best quality you can and if you only have limited amplification, play small venues. I hate poorly engineered live music! Regards, AB
