I said before I enjoyed the TAG more with classical music, but the Krell is better with everything else...

Well, the other day I remembered that the Krell has 3 compression settings: MAX, no compression, Normal and Night, high compression for when you dont want to bother your neighbours...

So I tried Normal with classical music and, voila, more coherence, more like live concerts...

Interesting, what do you think...

Very strange. Shouldn't happen like that! :p

What Krell is this you're talking about? And what compression setting did you use on the TAG?

    Antonio,

I trust you are talking about listening in PL2, in which case it just goes to show doesn't it;)

Odd Antonio. The compression circuitry is a standard feature of dolby digital processing. It certainly should not be affecting any other form of playback.

I cannot believe that Krell would offer a compression circuit for standard two channel, kind of goes against the grain when it comes to hifi don't you think.

I did think so too, but apparently was wrong, without compression the Krell sounds very dynamic, and I now realise classical music works better with a little compression, at least more to my taste...
