Searched on the forum but couldn't find the answer....

My daughter got a 4th gen Ipod touch from Santa.
She wants to play it though my hi-fi (Cyrus Cd player, Pathos TT amp)
Any suggestions for how to do this in a convenient and cheap way?

I'm told using a lead from the headphone jack is sub-optimal
I'm thinking of some kind of dock which can charge and connect at the same time

    Any suggestions?

Thanks Rob, will try that. Not really a fan of the Ipod but I had to succumb for the sake of the next generation....

Let us know how it sounds. My Archos sounded awful straight into the amp. Must be the dac in the player thats sub standard, only good enough for earphones.

You could go the route of a belkin bluetooth receiver. I tested one recently and while not 'audiophile' is also not terrible. Good enough for non-critical listening I'd say. Does your daughter really care about the last drop of sound quality?

No she doesn't care, but I just thought of it as an opportunity to get another hi-fi gadget :)

Most docks AFAIK use the Ipods DAC. There are a few that don't such as the Krell, Wadia and Onkyo. Would have gone for the Wadia if it supported 4th gen ipod touch

Well done, I thought there must be a cheap 'digital out' doc around but never found it!
