Contiental Mains Plugs Namely the Shucko!

    Hi how does one wire these babies? I have an EARTH in the middle and no marks either side? Really confused! Trying to make a mains cable to work in Europe e.g. Germany.:confused: :confused:

    There are two varieties of Schuko plug, the French and the German. They are the same shape, and the difference lies in the earthing arrangements. The German plug earths by means of two metal strips set into the sides of the plug 180° apart. These contact corresponding electrodes in the socket. A single screw fitting inside connects to both strips. The French arrangement is an earth pin that protrudes from the socket and contacts a matching cylindrical contact in the plug. Many Continental fittings can take both types. See also here:
