Exactly so its a viscous circle and you can't get rid of them because we have European human rights laws stopping Tony Blair of dropping a nuclear bomb of the worst parts of Essex.

Coming from Manchester, clearly the chav-free capital of the UK  .

As it happens, most of Essex is a very nice place. There's more to it than Canvey Island and Southend you know. I went to boarding school in a very nice part of Essex.

The only reason I mentioned Essex was because it was already mentioned in the Basledon joke.

    ian,

    the exhibits...
with a 'bling' of 1/10 naim:

    and
with a bling of 7/10 soneteer
    [IMG]

now which is more likely to get lifted by some light fingered little chav that's just broken into your abode?
    i rest my case....
    cheers

Garyi is a complete brand whore, and is in no position to take the piss out of Burberry wearers.

Statistics prove that 100% of people who have broken into somebody's house to steal Naim gear have broken in again within a week to return it, on the grounds that it's worth the risk of being caught if it means never having to listen to it again.

    Ian,

I think you will find that Naim gear is high on the wish list of your average Chav.

They've found out that the Naim caps are "faakin expensive"

That's because they've not dressed the cables, set up the racks or let it warm up properly - a week's not enough time :) And this from a Naim user (Naim/Epos is a good mix of round and flat....)

Seriously, any chav attempting to nick any decent stereo (like any of us have) would probably either a) blow it up by cutting the wires or b) get flummoxed by wires, give up, and steal the DVD player and microwave instead.

There are some good things about Essex - Depeche Mode being one of them. If you want a town that only has ONE thing going for it and is full of chavs (or Janners!), pick Plymouth. It's an unmitigated shithole that my parents had the misfortune to get stuck in for 29 years. The only good thing I saw about it is that it was one step better than Cornwall, where I was born (thank GOD my pre-adoptive mum ditched me at 3 months - if I'd got stuck in ooeerrr-land I'd have been dead of brain atrophy by now. Oh hang on - there's ONE other thing going for Plymouth - Jack'n'chill came from there :)

Which boarding school did you go to in Essex? I only ask as I went to one in Fyfield.

As to the underclass thing, I beleive their are two main reasons for the increase in numbers. Maggie Thatcher and her I'm all right jack politics, and the lack of recent world wars.

    Carpet bomb macdonalds car parks with Naplam, 3 fold bonus here;
1.RAF get procision bomb practice & munnitions testing rolled into one
2.Scum removed & inner city streets now safe again.
3.The Furneral business will have a gult of customers & the local chippy's will be busy til Xmas, bringing enough overtime to skiing/new car/or hifi system.
sounds very much like a Win<>Win situation to me

It's called "The Friends' School" and it's in Saffron Walden. It's a Quaker school, and the "proper" name for Quakers is "The Religious Society of Friends", hence the rather odd name of the school.

My father is a Quaker and grew up in a Quaker family. My (German) mother was raised a Lutheran (protestant) but recently also became a Quaker. I am not a Quaker but I share many of their beliefs and values. See the link above for more info.

Incidentally, when I attended the school, only 3% of pupils were from Quaker families. You can't actually "be" a Quaker until you're 18 as Quakers believe that people should be able to make up their own mind about what religion (if any) they follow, which they can do when they're 18. The age is arbitrary but might as well fit it in with the general legal age of adulthood.

Possibly more information than you were looking for :D

    Michael.
