I was just playing a CD that I havent played since I moved from compact fi to HIFI. I really enjoyed this CD - STrange Brew - The Cream Of Clapton - Lots of my favourites on this, especially Crossroads. The problem is that the recording is shocking - everything below about 100hz is missing - Are there any better Cds of this music around?

Well I got the Cd "The Very Best Of Cream" remastered using Apogee Electronics reference standard 20 bid analogue to digital converter and UV 22 Super CD encoding !!!!!!!!!! and its pathetic. The music is compressed, muddled AND nothing below 100hz. I also receive a vinyll recording, remastered and repressed at Abbey Road copy of Muddy Waters "Folk Singer" album and it must be the best recorded music Ive heard. If my hifi can reproduce music of this quality and the manufacturers of CDs and LPs still make CDs like Very Best of Cream then they should be first against the wall come the Revolution!! -- They have completely wrecked some of the finest work by a pop/blues musician - The bass lines played, double tracked etc on "Crossroads" and the excitement and dynamics of "Sunshine of your love" the brilliance of "Badge" and the cheek of "Politician" have been spoiled by the mess that has been made of the process that takes the art from the artist and attempts to deliver it to the listener!

Im not so sure now THat -- BAT does know best!!

Yeah, I know best... now throw that CD away and get the Goodbye CD, which sounds much better, and is filled with their best stuff!
