    For sale,

    1 x Crown K1 studio amp.

Used a lot in mastering studios. Effortless huge power, massive damping.

How does 350w into 8 ohms sound?

Neutral, clear, and tight - that's how :) - or at least it does with a K1.

Considered a maintenance free, cool running amplifier. Often used in mastering studios.

I've been using it to power the bass on my IPLs, but the new speakers have 99db efficient bass cones, so won't need such gobloads of power.

I was going to keep it (and dont mind if I end up doing so, it's so damn easy on the ear and poweful)

I have seen a few tatty ones that some pro-audio guy has kicked in a van for £400, ...or you could buy my nice audiophile-mothered one for £450.

    Your choice!

If you were looking at something like a Belcanto or other high power digital amp, check this out - ''Strummer'' I think his name was.. found this sounding just the same as Belcanto amplifiers into his Tannoys.

Personally I'd say the Belcanto's will be a) more hot-running, b) less reliable and c) probably sound very similar, but don't want to start a flame war :)

Collection free from milton keynes, or postage at cost.

***edit**** new they were about £1,500. Forgot to add that.

If you're reading this, don't understimate this amp if you don't know it.

Let's take a look at 'damping factor'

A wikipedia definition: In loudspeaker systems, the value of the damping factor between a particular loudspeaker and amplifier, describes the ability of the amplifier to control undesirable movement of the speaker cone near the resonant frequency of the speaker system. It is usually used in the context of low frequency driver behavior, and especially so in the case of electro-dynamic drivers which use a magnetic motor to generate the forces which move the diaphragm.

A chunky audiophile amp: Krell KSA 100 - damping factor: 500.

The Crown K1 - in excess of 3,000.

An amp that laughs in the face of an Apogee Scintilla...

wow, can't believe I haven't had my hand bitten off in the first couple of days with this one.

I suspect a lot of people haven't heard what it's capable of.. it does things with bass in particular (not only though) that few amps can match at any price.

    Yeah,

Buy a Squeezebox, and some big mother semi-vintage 80's speakers and rock better than any "modern" £5,000 system can....:MILD:

    £415!

until Sunday night only, then on Ebay at £425 buy-it-now. Higher Ebay cost reflects need to pay Ebay and PayPal.
