Haven't heard that in ages. Not sure about the c/w direction they took on the final(?) track though.

Anyhoos. Currently wading through the 3CD/1DVD Tortoise Box Set (Lazurus Taxon). Some great stuff: Very extended version of Gamera, Vaus, all of the Remixes of the first album (including the salvaged cut of Cornpone Brunch with extra basses by Kira Roessler and Mike Watt) and pretty much a whole gig from 96 with in Toronto on the DVD. Very well recorded and mastered too. Big Sound.

    Roadnoise - Judie Tzuke

More nostalgia but what a great live album - terrific atmosphere, great performances, well produced.

Brings back memories of many fine JT gigs.

    Rick Wakeman RETRO

Back to the seventies sounds with some of his old keyboards. I have listened to it twice now and it is really growing on me. Some really aggressive vocals from Ashley Holt and some nice grundgie bass on track 9. Track 8 i like the best very upbeat and swingy. Nice drums at the start of track 10. What a shame Dr. Bob Moog died during the making of this album. Jimbo.

Bit quiet on this part of the forum. Do people prefer not to dicuss their musical preferences on ZG? Anyway...

Trilok Gurtu's Crazy Saints - bought from the Fox Emporium. Bit of jazz fusion with some ethnic elements which work well, and is not something I would normally bother with. However, this is suitably different, and pretty good into the bargain.

When you are buying something you know nothing about, from someone who is clearing the decks, you have to ask - "is this rubbish?" - thankfully the opposite.
