Not being able to understand how any of Meddle can be described as arse ... you must be referring to Atom Heart Mother, which has quite a high arse to good ratio. ;)

Seriously, Meddle is top drawer but AHM was a bit pants and I think they would admit it tbh.

Sorry, yes, I was a bit unspecific with my arse reference, Meddle is excellent, I'd been after a copy for a while having heard it at a firends recently. AHM is.....patchy, shall we say, but it caused some funny expressions on the faces of my kids as they looked with mild confusion from the speakers to me, and then back, as if to say 'why?', which is pretty much the same as I was thinking.

Having a bit of a D'nB, electro and Techno day.

    So far:
Luke Slater - "Freak Funk". Brilliant album I'd not listened to for ages!
Mu-Ziq - "Royal Astronomy". An all time fav and one I keep coming back to. Infact, I've not heard a bad album from them!
Plasikman - "Artifakts(bc)". Great minimal techno from Richie Hawtin.
Roni Size - "In the MOde". A pretty much solid album throughout.

And sticking with Roni, next up is "Touching Down", which to be honest I've hardly ever played for some reason.

Was driving yesterday and all I could find on the radio was Magic FM ! So anyways off I drive, then came on Two out of Three aint bad by Meatloaf, I forgot how much I loved this song, and the King of Rock.

So last night had to blow off the dust to Bat Out of Hell and Dead Ringer albums, spun the platter lowered the needle and...bliss...

I used to play these albums over and over when I was a teenager, loved them.

I agree, but I picked up a Floyd DVD of live stuff for a fiver off a work colleague - I thnk it's called 'Live Anthology' (mostly 68 - 72). It has a montage section in the middle that isn't sound-synched. The music is a complete live version of AHM (18 mins), but much more tightly arranged and much heavier. The way it's played maeks it sound much more like a work up for Echoes. Audio quality isn't 100% but it is so much better than the record.

I seem to be stuck in the sixties at the moment going through my collection after changing my speakers, Its funny that when you change a major component of your system some music jumps up and grabs you anew, I had this with Axis Bold As love - Jimi Hendrix - It was one of my favourites on the gramophone when i bought it a week after its release - way back then!!!! Played it on CD just for a laugh, ESL 63s are not supposed to be brilliant with rock right!! Wrong! Jimis guitar playing jumped out and grabbed me right into the music. One If 6 were nine there is a bit where jimi close mikes his voice and I swear he was 3 metres in front of the speakes right in my face full of attitude!! Can't wait till SWMBO is out so I can listen again!!!

tut tut.. it would likely be an all the better compilation if you removed his contribution entirely and just left the great musicians he played with.

it aint easy to make sabbath and rainbow sound bad.

have to disagree with you there, bud

imho rjd one of the best vocalists of all time, powerful voice and fantastic rhythm to his singing...a "proper" vocalist, especially when compared to ozzy...a lot more respectful than gillan too

Listening to Airs - Pocket Symphony. Side threes got an enormous flaw in the white vinyl pressing, stop being clever guys, just do it on the black stuff like everyone else does! I've never been lucky with coloured vinyl....:D Thats going back...
