'Selected Ambient Works Vol. II' is still my favourite album ever, which is largely based upon analogue sounds (I think) - it absolutely blew my mind when I first heard it and opened me up to a world of music which I may otherwise have missed. Having said that I love all of his stuff, 'Drukqs' especially, which is an amazing album in every respect (I managed to get hold of the ltd. vinyl of that too). I think Aphex has been referred to as a modern Mozart, and I wouldn't disagree - his music is complex, sublime, tender, aggressive, heartfelt and so much more besides, and he can't even read music! And he's prolific too, apparently he has released less than 1% of all the music he has ever made.
If you like the complex stuff then try getting hold of Venetian Snares, from Canada (that's him on the left there!) - he has taken complexity to new limits. He has been likened to the most intense Aphex/Squarepusher material, but has that essential subtlety too. Probably a good start would be the album 'Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding'.
