    Thanks Andi, no worries, I may have got the wrong end of the stick also.
    But it'd be an interesting debate for another time maybe, but I didn't want it to turn into a flame war.

    If I were you I'd consider spending just a touch more - considering the money saved. Also dont be too quick to rule out used bikes. I picked up a 6 month old hardly ridden MTB which cost the poor chap £3,400 - cost me £1,400. There are bargains to be had. Not knocking Saracen btw.
