I like listening music a lot and just been offered a nice DAB radio. It is great and the sound is chrystal clear. I just wonder... what is exacly DAB.

Digital Audio Broadcasting - there's a lot of controversy about the sound quality due to the amount of compression used on various stations. A good source of info is http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/

Its good as a portable for bus / train etc or background listening I use a pure DAB radio for this but prefer FM for quality listening - but there's a lot of compression used by some broadcasters there too.

Just to add to what Neil said - Freeview radio is also a better option than DAB for sound quality but there are fewer stations available.

The bit-rates on Freeview are higher than on DAB; could still be better but it's at least trying. I (and many others) use a Freeview box feeding a HiFi DAC for radio listening.
