I fancy a CD21,but it would cost me £500 ish s/h,I could get £250 for my Rotel 1070 s/h,so cost to change is £250

could I get a decent DAC for £250 to partner the Rotel and could that compare with the £1000 CD21?

    any thoughts?

The CD21 is one of the several players I used to have, and is definitely in the wish I still had it category. Frankly, I don't think you would find any DAC at less than £1k or even more that would be as good. I think its output stage is tweaked specially to match the A21a amp.

Also, for what its worth, HFC did a comparison between one make amp/cd combos a few years ago and concluded Sugden A21/CD21 was far and away the most musical and was one of the cheaper sets in the test.

Tell the truth you really"want" the sugden don't you, be honest now.

If thats true then buy the bloody thing, if it sounds good keep it, and don't worry if you coulda got 1 or 2% better performance with a dac, if you get a dac you'll then say what about digital cables , electrical/optical, mmm wonder if better transport,.....

Get the bloody sugden will be good with the amp you love so much and will look neat beside each other.

The new user page is an arse for a buyer because the seller gets to see how many watchers there are,if he has loads,he can tell me to do one.But then again,he might drop his b.i.n price

As is said before, I think the b.i.n. price is quite reasonable - I'd go for it before I decide to myself!!!!!
Especially when you consider there was one on hififorsale.com (before it went offline) at something like £650ish
