the dac64 club...yes finally got one courtesy of a nice forum member not too far away.

Impressions....well its louder than other stuff, so makes the others sound a little insipid and weak, then you turn them up, and its gets a little harder to pick out differences, but the dac64 is definately better...how would I describe it?

solidity...instruments are more solid, they dont' waver
separation...bass lines are firmer, more detatched from the mix
    clarity...slightly more natural, less shrieky..
compelling...on the other stuff the cd actually sounds mellifluous, and that can be attractive and relaxing...this demands you sit up and take notice, you can't relax to it.
its definatlely less vague, more tangible and real, makes the music come alive more.

One day, I will go for the partnering chord amps, I am that impressed, you can stuff yer naim! I hope I can hold on to it, as I am really stretching to afford!

    Well done Sir,

You are not the first Naimee ot seek refuge with the Dac 64, indeed i was speaking with a dealer the other day who was saying that he hardly ever sells the more expensive Naim CD players, as most of his Naim customers prefer the Dac64 mated to a good transport.

But don't assume that the 64 offers Chord's house sound, IMO their amplifiers sound like the aural equivalent of the colour grey.
