I distance buy all my technology to give me that "7 day cooling of policy".
Essentially if you buy a product from a trading company if you do not like it (even if used) as long as you have not caused unreasonable damage* you can return it giving no reason. By law they have to offer a full refund minus P&P. this is why i go for companies that have free P&P.

thats the law. companies hate it but they don't have a choice. Also pay by credit card, you can stop payment instead of waiting for a refund!

Buy one monitor of each type you can afford, and return all the ones you didn't like.
*the star was for a fun though imoral thing to do. Buy a car like this, in the 7 days put 10k on the clock and return it. nothing they can do (though st peter might have something to say to you later though)

Well you don't have to put up with it. You can choose to pay more for a brand with a zero dead pixel guarantee.

Philips is one manufacturer offering this sort of warranty. It is available as part of their 3yr on-site warranty on their Business and Pro range LCD monitors and also as part of the 2yr on-site warranty on the X series consumer monitors. They all cost a bit more than the comparable A brand products but give you peace of mind for 2 to 3 years.

I use a pair of 190B5 running from a dual head card on my home PC. Very happy with the results :D
