The new Throbbing Gristle TG+ box (10 CDs of their final live performances). But it's not released until January...

I'm not expecting any music for Christmas since the family never know what to buy me, realising that if I want an album like as not I'm not going to sit around waiting for Christmas. So, hopefully will get some Christmas money and invest in some of these:

White Stripes - White Stripes, White Blood Cells & De Stilj on vinyl.
Rage Against The Machine - the live album just released from their last 2 concerts.
    Dropkick Murphys - Blackout
Silver Apples (Cheers Dom for playing this one on Saturday afternoon, superb album.)
Blur - Think Tank (Yes, I know, I need to keep up more!)

Plus doubtlessly will find some bargains in the sales.

I only buy music in sales. I wouldn't want anyone to buy me music unless it was in a sale. Music shops in towns near universities seem to have good sales i.e. Uxbridge MVC.

If it never budges from full-price - I download it in the highest bit-rate MP3 available.

No-one in my family EVER buys me what I want. Their banal excuse is "you've got too much music already". OK, so when you read a book dad, do you re-read it forever - no, you get a new one. Stop being fascists and buy me what I want - another load of biscuits and formal wear that I won't just does my nut in! Complete waste of money...

I've asked for the latest Alicia Keys album totally on spec, 'cos I quite like her current track; I won't get it though.

I too would like the first and third White Stripes LPs - got Elephant and De Stijl on vinyl already and they rock!

I'm not taking the mick, but mebbe the best thing is to give em a Christmas list. I gave a list to my girlfriend, and that's the only reason I got an old Steve Earle album I wanted from her Mum (she made me open my pressy early). btw. Steve Earle - Train a Comin' - highly recommended for those who like a bit of proper twang.

    Dear Santa,

I want the Johnny Cash Unearthed box set - but will understand if I don't get it cos 50 quid is bloody outrageous

I just received a half gross of baroque and ancient music CDs on the ever excellent Alpha-prod label and am waiting for a largish consignment of "Inedit" CDs - especially looking forward to the album of Taiwanese Animist Polyphony :D
These are presents to me from me. Naturally

Nicely on the Steve Earle, Train A Comin' is a great record. Picked up Guitar Town and Exit 0 on vinyl on my last trip to MVE in Notting Hill. Was quite surprised to find them as well since the only thing I'd ever seen of his in the bargain basement on vinyl before was Copperhead Road. Which I've already got.

I thought about the idea of a Christmas list, but bearing in mind that my folks aren't exactly that up on Internet shopping, they're getting there, it's not such a good idea. I wouldn't really want them paying over the odds in the shop either, £16.99 for a back catalogue CD in HMV... I could probably find that and another one online for the same outlay.

If anyone wants a good treat, the 22-20's EP, 05/03, is absolutely superb. It's some good heavy blues rock, very derivative of Rory Gallagher etc. which is a Good Thing. Play it loud. It's also available on 10" vinyl apparently so I might pick it up in that format also.

    Hi Ilockyer,

With you on the 22-20s, I got the ten inch a couple of month's ago. Like you say a bit derivative, but not bad.

On the Steve Earle front, if you haven't already got it, try out "The Mountain". Utterly gorgeous bluegrass with Steve backed by the Del McCoury (sp?) Band. A fabulous album with not an ounce of filler, beautifully recorded too.
