I'm listening to it as I type :D

I'm not a great fan of Jay Z, and haven't heard The Black Album (which I believe he said is his last ever?), so can't really compare it.

There's been quite a few copies on soulseek for a while (224k).

Jay Z is actualy better than I'd expected. I admit to having dismissed him somewhat as a bit of a cheese rapper :D Might not be the MOst intelligent rhymes but got a good tone, timing, and flow to his delivery.

Apparently he did an Unplugged album too (with the roots as backing band), which I might have to track down too.

Well put togeather and works beyond just a novelty album. Worth a listen IMO :)

This forum never ceases to amaze me - on one side you can have some people discussing rap music and the same people discussing possible DAC mods and other such geeky stuff in another thread. It just confuses me as to what type of people you all really are! Like the guy who posted this thread. For some reason I had a picture of some old man who had retired in Lisbon! And after this thread, I now don't think that is very likely.

The person who posted this thread isn't a guy. Michelle is a cross dressing disco queen. He/she didn't retire to lisbon, but merely MOved over there as he felt he'd be able to reinvent him/herself easier without persecution from his old crowd.

He/she's a nice guy/gal though. And provides this diverse forum for us......... which is nice :D

I wouldn't be surprised and I did believe you for a minute, but then I saw he signed the initial post Michael and everyone knows transexuals are always particular about being called only their female name! Or perhaps, he actually is sometimes a she.

Oi - enough of that :D If you really want to know I'm a spring chicken of a mere 34 years...and I moved to Lisbon to life there with my (Portuguese) wife. My job is still based in London but they let me work 2 weeks each month from home here. The other 2 weeks I'm in London.

I probably am a geek  but I also like a lot of hip-hop music :MILD:

One thing I've learnt from meeting the people I've met on the forum is that it's almost impossible to get even close to what people are like in real life from their forum posts. I've always been completely surprised.

Thanks for the offer - do you have an original CD or is it ripped? The CDs are bound to become collectors items because of they've had to be pulled.

I just downloaded a 192Kbps copy from SoulSeek. Only heard a couple of tracks so far but I really like it. One of the hip-hop "styles" I like most is rapping over the top of an old well known song - those Beatles beats in the background are just excellent :MILD:

Bugger, I saw this in a record shop yesterday (and they were playing it over the PA) and it didn't register so I didn't buy it.

It was R***h T***e in case anyone's interested.

michaelab: unfortunately its the 192kb rip, I'm trying to track down a lossless copy though. I might take a quick snoop round the record shops tomorrow and see what I turn up. Might as well take advantage of all this free time before I get another job :D.

I just took another look and there's still quite a few copies of it @224k on soulseek.

I tried downloading a few of the 224Kbps copies on SLSK but none of them were working. The difference between 192 and 224 isn't that huge - I had trouble telling the difference between 192 and 320!

No doubt originals will soon be turning up on eBay

Well no luck in finding a copy in the record shops round my way. Though I did manage to bag a copy of DJ Q-Berts 'Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Music' on my travels so I'm a happy bunny:D.

Michaelab, they're already cropping up on Ebay with prices already up at £20+. Some folks are even trying to flog you CDR's of the album, no doubt made from the MP3's from the net.

Just listened to it properly for the first time on my iPod - I love it :D

Just an alltogether superb album. It's a crime that EMI has stamped on it :inferno:

If The Grey Album does it for you, I recommend 'Modern Hits' & 'More Modern Hits' by Andrew Broder (of Fog & Hymie's Basement). Warpmart have both at very reasonable prices.

I dug this out and gave it another play last night.

Really is pretty good! I wasn't sure if I'd like it beyond its novelty value.

I wonder if Macca has heard it? And what he thinks?
