    Hi Guys

    First post here - hope you don't mind starting off with a poll on a 'heated' subject.

    I'v recently rediscovered my hifi after a few years and have spruced it up with new mains cables, interconnects and speaker cables, and I'll add my impressions to the poll.

    Audiophile mains cables improve sound;
    Interconnects improve sound;
    Speaker cales improve sound;
    All of the above improve sound;
    All of the above improve sound, but better spend the money on components;
    They don't make a difference In My Experience;

    IMO, interconnects make a difference, closely followed, if not equalled by speaker cable, and mains in final place.
    This is purely based on the findings with my kit, in my house, where i believe the mains to be ok.
    I honestly dont think you can "just" spend the money on better boxes, without decent cabling to go with them.

    Agree with all of that,but not too sure about mains.Have reasonably expensive mains cable and a couple of the same makeup power leads(pre/power)don't relly want to do an a/b just in case I've wasted a few bob:(

    Mine would be speaker cables followed by mains (but only mega bucks ones) then interconnects.

    All in my personal findings, in my system etc etc...

    I know where this thread is going....:JPS:

    The poll questions are far too simplistic to produce any worthwhile result.

    Agreed, none of the above. I'd choose mains cables make fak all difference. Interconnects can make a difference but anything reasonably well designed (can cost 30p a meter) will sound the same as the next.

    Perhaps they do - Perhaps they don't (cables) - but good CDs/Vinyl etc make the most difference - spend your money on Music!

    Is it me or does this forum just go round in circles? Why is it not called 'Do cables make a difference forum?'

    Funny you should say that...

    my first boss, a very inportant (influencial person inmy life) when I was 17-19...... also a very religious one....... made the observation...

    ....he didn't mind paople saying there MAY not be a god....but its a very different kettle of fish to say there ISN'T a god.

    I trust nobody is offended by this. Thats certainly not my intention; its a subtle distinction thats stayed with me.

    FWIW he (+ his family still exchange xmas cards now 25 years after my employent)

    Perhaps we should have cables blessed...?

    Then ask if there is a difference between them or not?
