I didn't realise this was out until today and looking through the local Megastore's 5 for £30 sale. A definite must buy for anyone that hasn't got it. One of Spielbergs earliest films and I think, still one of his very best and up there as one of the all time great road movies. Vanishing Point is also very under-rated.

Duel is an awesome film. IMO still Speilberg's best (and nothing like his later stuff). Unbelievable suspense and such a simple idea.

Agreed. Spielberg is a very 'manipulative' director, but when he used this in Duel (and Jaws, IMO) for suspense :yikes: it was remarkable.

I cant stand Spielberg nowadays, far too soppy and sentimental. However, Dual is fantastic and Jaws is still my fave film of all time.

Just goes to show what a talented director can do before he gave in to trying to please everyone.

Yes Duel is a wonderful film, and has been pointed out, a simple premise worked to perfection. It was originally made as a made-for-TV movie so it was only filmed in 4:3 unfortunately.

Still, quite brilliant, a real gem. Must get a copy myself.

    Cheers,

    Jon
