My DVD player is giving me slight shocks every time I touch it. Is it likely to be a fualty a earth connection or is it best to throw it in the bin?

The shocks are only minor but even so its still enough to make me scared of using it.

For ages I got a massive shock every time I touched my NADs. Doesn't seem to happen any more though. ;)

I took the back off tightened the earth connection up got my multi metre out and everything seemed to be earthed that should be. I can only conclude that the shocks happen when the unit is connected to the HIFI systtem.

    AT,
    Do you have cable TV?
From time to time I feel a small buzz if I am touching my DVD player and something earthed like my hi-fi. I tracked this down to my cable TV aerial, which sometimes has 70v between the shield and mains earth.

Still no idea why, or why it comes and goes.

Phill I think you may have spotted the problem. I have my digital setup box on top of my DVD player so maybe that was causing the problem.
