Hi folks. A year back I had my personal plate put on retention when we sold our car. We paid something like £100 for this (I forget exactly) and I thought that was that. However, DVLA have now sent a letter saying that we have to send them another £25 for another year's retention - and if we don't we lose it.

Is this correct? I thought that once a plate was on retention that was it until such time as you wanted to put it on another motor?

Anyone with any experience in this?

I have some, and yes its correct, you'll also have to pay to transfer it again! I think it was £80 when I look at putting my plate on retention so I put in one of the vans at work.

Yup, £25 to retain for a year and £80 to transfer.
