hi, i have a dynaco stereo 70 in very good condition with the full alan kimmel designed, welbourne labs modification, in addition to a new double primary Sowter power transformer, the original (highly sought after!!!) cloth lead output transformers and a mullard gz34 rectifier tube!

now i know that the stereo 70 is not that well known over here, so i was wondering the best way of going about selling the unit. i'd rather not use epay, and i'd like for it to go to a good home.

i am only selling it because i have a baby on the way and i seem to have collected rather more tube amps than i can really use. (i still have another st-70...)

so my question is, does anyone know if there is a market for these in the uk and what are my options?

    thanks.

I think there would be interest, but people would probably want to try before buy.

    Have you considered a price?

well, i'm based in london, and i would be happy for people to come for a demo. i have a good idea what it's worth (i certainly know how much i have spent on it!!!) but i'm not sure what the market for such an item would be.

my unit is almost mint, which alone (sans mods) would cost $450-500 in the states. look at a few of the examples on audiogon (from where i took my price guidance), my unit is easily in the top quartile based on appearance.

( http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls...tube&1102041475 ) this unit has the same wellborne labs mod ($235), but without an upgraded power transformer (this alone was £160 from sowter) a matched set of tubes (VAC tested), new pomona labs binding post upgrade, a mullard gz34 (worth about £60 pounds on its own!!), NOS 5751s and 6U8As ($50), RDC2 cone feet (£30), upgraded power cord.

i make all the bits (even if i take a low $400 price for the basic chassis) come to about $1,135 or about £630 using 1.80 as the exchange rate. if worst case scenario i take the chassis price as $300, that's still going to be £570 net of everything listed above.... (these calulations don't include the quad of el34s or the binding posts as i don't recall what they cost...)

i'm looking for around £500. talk to me about the price if you think that seems unfair.
