FS: Dynaudio Contour S3.4 loudspeakers in maple – mint. (Up for sale again.)

Dynaudio Contour S3.4 loudspeakers for sale, in mint condition.

    • In a beautiful real maple wood veneer.
    • 2-way (3 driver) floorstanding speakers.
    • Approximately 4 years old.
    • Stereo pair.
    • Original shipping cartons included.
    • All original accessories included – manual, M8 spikes, port bungs, etc.

These have always been used with quality ancillaries and never driven hard. I have been very precious with these, and as a result they are in truly fantastic condition. The cabinets are completely unmarked, as new, as are the drivers. The plinths have a couple of very minor marks from hoovering (not from me !). They are in perfect working order, no faults of any kind – mechanical, electrical or audible.

The visual design of these is stunning – even more so seen in the flesh. The maple veneer is of the highest quality - double thickness. They are really an asset to your living room and are almost worth the price as furniture alone. The weight of 33kg apiece is testament to the Rolls-Royce build quality.

The sound quality is even more stunning. The voicing of these speakers is perfectly judged, not too bright, not too laid back. The dynamics are free of compression, mid and treble are delicately detailed and bass can be heard below 25 Hz ! They have a natural and organic sound, equally adept with all genres of music.

The web is awash with positive remarks about these. They are universally held in very high regard. The fact that these are seldom available on the used market indicates that owners are very contented.

These currently retail at £4,500. Selling for £2,299.
For any buyer paying close to the asking price, I will throw in some high-quality speaker cables: a pair of Chord Odyssey 2, factory terminated with 4mm banana plugs both ends and 2.3m long each.
I guesstimate courier cost within the UK would be approximately £100, I can give an exact quote if required. I am happy to ship worldwide.

Now withdrawn from sale. Sorry if anyone's is disappointed by this.

I was planning to sell my whole system and buy a pair of Meridian DSP speakers. I was really impressed when I heard the performance of some DSP speakers recently - highly detailed, realistic, dynamic all without any harshness.

But, I had some trouble with my Meridian G92 DVD player. The DVD drive failed just as I had received a deposit from a buyer. I was rather upset at: 1. the unit being unreliable and failing; 2. the treatment I received from Meridian (will not deal direct with public, must go through a dealer); 3. the price of the replacement part (£500) and 4. the unit was in warranty, but it does not cover owners subsequent to the original. This has put me off buying Meridian again. It was in stark contrast to the excellent service I received from Chord recently.

I will be trying the Dyns with a tube amp, due to arrive soon. I found my Chord / Dyn system a tad bright at times, hence the change-around.

By the way, I came across this advert a while back. Peeps might be interested, if you don't mind importing something from abroad:

My Dynaudio Contour S3.4 are now up for grabs again.
I thought I would stick with the S3.4 whilst I made some major changes to the system; I was interested to hear them on the end of a tube amp. Well, they do sound awesome.
But, the opportunity for a substantial speaker upgrade recently appeared, at a price too good to ignore. Hence the S3.4 are now up for sale again.
Sorry, but I will need to hang on to the speaker cables.
