Unless I have read it wrong E4 is being launched on Freview at the end of May, this has to be a great thing, its the only channel I thought was missing really.

Also ITV are launching a new channel on freeview on Monday called Men and Motors.

It seems at last the UK is getting some very decent channels, how many other countries can you get free digital transmissions?

Thats quite good news, sometimes I see things on there I'd like to watch, then realise I don't have Top Up TV (mainly because if I wanted to pay for something I'd get Sky) :(

Always a fan of something for nothing, better than a kick in the teeth!!

Sounds good. But will the programming stay similar ?

Like when The O.C is aired on Channel 4 and then the next episode straight after on E4 ?

I think they will re-arrange it so that there wont be any real use from E4. Just another channel to carry more ads.

Men and Motors is pretty much soft porn as far as I'm aware.
TV generally is shit. After having Sky at my girlfriends house for a couple of months I realised that its a waste of money. I'm sure E4 is not going to make anyones life any better.

Probably not, but at the end of the day its free, it has to be better than nothing.

It can't be as bad as BBC Four, or ITV2 which has no purpose other than showing repeats of repeats of repeats, or is that BBC3?

I think I'd prefer nothing to be honest...cuts down on the amount of flicking to be done. We have 4 channels...if theres nothing on those 4 channels after 2 minutes flicking...it goes off. No worries. With sky and all that shit you can sit flicking for days and never find anything good. Or just flick back and forth between channels catching the odd minute of something vaguely interesting. And its all american shit...wildlife programmes lose all respect from me when its some yank chatting over it. Stick to BBC stuff...the quality shows.

I know what you mean, I don't watch TV much at all during the day apart from Eastenders and Corrie, however at night once I have finished doing all my work I quite enjoy flicking through the channels.

To me the biggest advantage of freeview is picture quality, I know it uses compression and is only transmitted at 2000mbps but the picture quality is still far better than analogue.

I am sure when I am looking for jobs and become a potato couch for a while the TV will be used more :p

The old wives tales are true...it rots your brain. Makes me feel ill after watching an hour of shit on tv. I'd chuck it out if there wasn't the odd footy match, documentary or film on worth watching. Radio is the way forward.
The worst thing you can do when you're unemployed is waste your time watching tv. Make an airfix model for forks sake...anything better than slow stewing your grey matter. Make use of the time your not doing a 9-5 job doing all the things you want to. As long as they're cheap of course!

Yeah I wasn't meaning I will spent all day in front of the box, just I will have more time thanI do now, late nights etc.

I intend to sell some PCs to earn a bit of money while looking for jobs and if funds allow do a bit of travelling, depending on how good the summer turns out to be I will also be delivering leaflets.

I can never understand why some people have the TV 24/7. I suppose I am on the computer all the time but I have to be for my work, but when I graduate I will have no real need to on the computer at all.

I can't wait, more american yanks to distort my woofers. But still there may be the odd program I want to watch, and if its crap I don't have to watch it.

My personal hate is ITV2, it could be much better than it is, at least BBC3 has some original content apart from all the repeats of two pints.
