Why the hell don't we just build some more feckin' jails?

If they do let some offenders out early, you'll probably have law suits from those not released early claiming mental damage from not being allowed out early, and they'll win because there's no common sense in the justice system, or at least it seems that way from what the media reports.....

Not defending the government but as far as I can tell only "non-dangerous" criminals are being released and only a few days early. It seems like the prison building program hasn't kept up with demand. Has anyone considered using the Palace of Westminster for these crooks? Sorry I forgot, that is already overflowing with them:D.

We are only talking 'up to 18 days' early release.
No big deal if it eases the current crisis and buys some time for a better solution, even though the government have had plenty of time to act.

Talk about 'contempt of court'. I have increasing contempt for the whole of the so-called 'justice' system in this country.

Yes, I know but ti seems to me that sentences are frequently woefully inadequate as it is.

It will make room for the 85yr old lady who faces imprisonment for not paying her Council Tax. Meanwhile the terrorist suspects can go free under (non-existent) surveillance!

Suspects, terrorist or otherwise, should be allowed to go free unless charged with a crime and tried. Unless you want a police state where anyone can be detained indefinitely without charge?
