Ah yes, that'll because the record wasn't "genuinely" stuck, sounded to me like some bod in the sound department had stuck a couple of samples together and pasted them together in a sound-editor prog or sampler, including samples of a needle getting ripped across a record. :)

What a waste of The Streets...

Are you SURE a record can't get stuck like that? At 33/3 it could be possible...

    It was a Technics 1210 wasn't it??

Thought as much myself. Still, good to see a turntable in use on a TV programme for playback rather than just scratching... wonder how many kids were sat watching with their parents and saying something along the lines of why doesn't he get a CD player?

I think you would be surprised just how many of the young generation have turntables now.

Yup - a lot more probably do have TTs these days. However, most younger people seem to think anyone with a TT is a DJ - shows how DJ culture has fueled the revival of vinyl.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was trying (badly) to say. While TT usage does seem to be on the up, it seems to be more for the purposes of DJing rather than actually sitting and listening to a record. It's like these people who see you carrying records and occasionally ask the "are you a DJ?" question... the response that you actually like listening to records often is quite a surprise... usually a response of "isn't that what CDs are for?"
