Report them to eBay. False advertising and false feeback "puffing". Still, anyone with the slightest bit of common sense would see straight through that one.

I posted about this before but I thought it was genuine. If they have [email protected] then surely it must be genuine as they are not going to put up a false email address.

The advert even has Richer Sounds phone number on it. However did it strike me very odd that Richer Sounds should start selling ebay since most the time the stock flies outside the shops.

However I know RS have just off loaded a lot of gear to Superfi.

There was a similar thing recently with reconditioned canon camera gear, which was being sold officially on ebay. However, there was no announcement, and many people said it was a scam. It turned out not to be, and some lucky people got EOS 1DS cameras for GBP3200 inc VAT (rrp 8000). One of the people who wrote it off as a scam picked up a lens from them soon after.

I still don't think eBay would be happy about them obviously puffing up their feedback with bogus auctions. Personally I wouldn't touch the auction with a barge pole....not that I particularly want a Mission centre speaker anyway :D

What is feedback ramping? I know RS have been known in the past to pull a few tricks but I am sure they would be desperate enough to do dodgy stuff with ebay.

I have reported them, I find it bizarre they need to

    1/ sell on ebay, why?
2/ push their fb up, why? they are a 'reputable' shop , they have now lied to get feedback. would you buy off them now? hmmmm

looks like most high bidders on thier items have 0 feedback, looks to me like they are trying to up the prices on thier own items.

If they are doing that then it is totally ilegal. You can be put in jail for that.

I am not sure how they would get away with it though, unless they are getting RS staff to it at home so it has a dffferent IP address.

I think it is worth reporting it then ebay can at least investigate.

Noticed that someone has posted them negative feedback for ramping up their feedback.
All seems very weird. Did you notice Richers was the 9th best company to work for in the sunday times?

I didn't realise you could post feedback unless you'd won an auction

AT, "shill bidding" (bidding up your own auctions) is totally against eBay policies but I doubt it's illegal and you would never get put in jail for it. It's much more common on eBay than you might think. Slight overreaction there I think ;)

It looks like someone registered, bid on and won the item just to provide the negative feedback. Funny.

Our own man 7_V does the same thing. If you put up an auction for a false item and some other id wins it and they dont send any money and you dont send any item there's nothing within eBay's application logic to track, monitor or verify the transaction.

The net result - the winning ID, which is probably the same person as the auction owner gets to ramp up the positive feedback of the auction owner ID.

Many real bidders dont scrutinise what items received feedback they just feel warm when they see 12 feedbacks and 100% positive so then bid with confidence on furture auctions even though the owner has had little or no genuine feedback.

So the morally of the story is to always check how the seller has got the feedback?

Thats what I would recommend. Essentially the higher *real* feedback to lower item value ratio the better, naturally. The issue is if positive feedback can be engineered where does that leave the eBay concept? Though I would also argue spotting the bargain between the scams is part of the fun.
