Because I like to make money. And owning a lot of different designs allows me to talk about them with a little knowledge - you should try it some day.

    No. Why the interest?

That would have been boring wouldn't it?

It isn't the first time you've been totally wrong now is it?

Swapping kit is all about learning what you do and don't like. I've blundered into a few mistakes before. I wouldn't rule out owning some dynaudio drivers again in the future. Perhaps as a diy play thing. Whether i would keep them is unknown unless you live with them for a while. Short demo's are pretty useless, so owning parallel kit makes an awful lot of sense!

Yes but never were you were involved.

So you like to change just for the sake of it? The means has become the end? Indicative perhaps of a deep seated dissatisfaction with the choices you have made?

if you were overenthusiastic, then yes.
but with a soft brush attachment on and taking your time, v unlikely. it does take time tho', 'bout 1/2 hr to do both.

some people use cotton buds (yes, really) to clean each perferation between the holes in the metal mesh!! :D

they are more robust than you think tho' plus they are far less likely to get damaged by little fingers.
personally, now i've had panels, i wouldnt go back to cones, they just seem to have that extra something.

    Don't forget Audiostatics

I've been running a pair of Audiostatic wings with different S/S amps (Plinius SA50, Parasound JC1, Lyngdorf 2200+) and make very nice noises. No, like most full range electrostatics of reasonable proportions they may not have the slam needed by heavy rock, but they cope pretty well crossed over at 100Hz to a Final S200 sub.
They are 6' tall, 1' wide and 2" deep.

They don't need oodles of outright power, but do like some current. All the above amps were able to deliver this.

Now for sale in the UK !

They are only 5ft tall in your ad.

Still only one foot wide - not enough for decent bass - Quad is a far better solution IMO.

They gave better bass than the quads when I heard them. Better detail too.

Unless you have heard them you are in no position to comment. They were very impressive speakers. I suggest you give them a chance.

    BBV,

I have heard them many times living about 10 minutes from a main dealer of Musicology and visiting on a regular basis.

I have also heard the Quads on a number of occasions. I still can't work out how they claim decent bass extension for the panel? And if you are using a sub, you've already lost the game IMO.

    Sound Labs

I had a pair of Sound lab A1's

They were probably the best and most realistic speaker I had. They were hard to drive though. The best match was a pair of Gryphon ref 1 Monos.

My Wife hated them as they were 7'x4'. To add insult to injury We had an interior designer come over to quote for some curtains and when she saw them she said "Wow I like tour Victorian blinds"
My wife made sure the woman was straight out of the door.

They are the only Electrostatic to give good Bass.

I have tried Audiostatics. Quads, Kingsounds (not bad though) and cadence arcas.

I really didn't like the audiostatics and the quads were too dull.

The Sound labs are up for sale.

If you like pannels you should try the Manger speakers as they are very pannel like in their deisgn and you dont have to have huge pannels in your room. Ask tenson.

They went low enogh for me and I listen to aphex twinn and Kraftwek. The Electro kardiogram track on the tour de france 2003 CD made all the windows shake in my room.

I just checked the specs they go down to 28Hz variable. You can adjust the mis trabble and bass in 3 steps.
