Tenson, I think ;y;ou are right in a lot of the things you are saying, to actually change things and find out can be a real chore, with settings over different places and the reminders always popping up, even if you turn some off, more appear.

But apart from the niggles, it is v stable, I had a nitemare with 98se, it was always crahsing, this virtaully never does, tho I have had to reinstall about 3-4 times due to downloaded s'ware causing os instability, just don't dowload crappy web programs.

It is still a muddle in bits and needs sorting more tho'.

Anyone know any good books which actually tell you how to get inside and do things? rahter just than the crappy dummies type books? would the mcse things help understand the thing?

Coming back to the original topic of the thread. The copy of PS CS2 I bought off eBay arrived......in a FedEx envelope from China  . Single CDR with a small piece of paper with serial no and a URL for a site giving instructions on how to "activate" the software (Adobe software, like Microsoft software now requires activation). This involves running a little .exe on the CDR that generates the correct activation code.

So...100% pirate software. The ease with which pirates get around schemes like "activation" makes you wonder why they bother. All it will stop is the casual "making a copy for a mate" piracy which is a drop in the ocean compared to the Far Eastern industrial piracy.

Now...to install or not to install, that is the question..... ;)

    Michael.
