I notice that a single review costs £2.95.

It's disgraceful in many ways, I think.
It's bad enough that their website seems to be permanently out of date (not that I care that much), that they don't take a page out of other mag's book and at the very least allow old reviews to be read online (would increase their exposure), but worst of all, you buy for a reprint and get a file or do you actually get a printed copy on glossy paper?

I can't see why anyone that buys the magazine (or worse even, subscribes to it) should have to pay again for the priviledge of a software copy of the same article...

The whole thing is a rip off in my book.

The shittiest, most one sided hifi mag out there imo.
Very rarely reviews high end that doesn`t cost a bomb, absolute waste of money. wouldn`t wipe me ring piece on the paper it`s printed on.

I like HFN. I have all issues dating back to 1991 I guess. I do not care about their web exposure.

I was also subscribing at various points of time to Stereophile, TAS, Fi, HiFi World and HiFi+ but quit. The HFN subscription is the only one that I keep.

Martin Collom's reviews are great IMO. Very insightful.

KK is fun to read, although you never know how the item he is describing actually sounds, not to mention how it compares to the other stuff. But it's fun.

Miller writing on digital audio is also excellent. And so is Barry Fox column.

I also like Andrew Harrison's writing, but he is a friend of mine, so I'm obviously biased.

    Just my 0,02c

I think that's where my frustaration is with HFN - it has all the elements, some talented writers with insight and technical capability - but the product, on the whole, falls well short.

i dont mind the vinyl i find it interesting if not in my purchase 'scope'.

i just mean generally, i'd like to see more startups with their crazy products. i know they don't advertise and some magazines won't review product that doesnt get dealer support. but TAS and stereophile do it.

if you check out whats on 6 moons this month, i've never heard of half of them, and it makes it more interesting, my interest is in general hifi, i'm not looking for buying recomnedations.

even if 6 moons is utter pretentious crap in the writing.

AFAIK Stereophile still requires the product to have at least 5 dealers in the US. And so does TAS.

6moons and other webzines are a different story though.
