If I thought for a minute I could get away a setup like that I would've done it.... Sadly singledom would rear it's head before the first purchase was un-packed:(

As for best tweaks? Very particular wood pucks and Wenge!

I've found that brushing my connections with Signal toothpaste gives my system more sparkle.

Ultra Bright works quite well too.

Seeing Romys site deffo puts a new meaning on the word dedicated. Just got through his 8500 word starter for ten on playback. Theres even a bit of sciency stuff in there. His approach may be questionable but his dedication is not.

I thought I was a hifi Anorak. Romy is an Anorak plus balacalava and gloves on strings. I salute his efforts.

What I have done is to replace the sand box with a 2x2 paving slab/rubber/mdf combo, retaining the origional mdf iso board underneath which is spiked to the concrete floor. In time theres room for improvement for that platform, not idael atall.

BTW, yes there is still sand all over the place from the sand box and the white stuff is epoxy which (in my wisdom) I had used to stick layers of rubber together previously (unnecesarily I think now).

You can just see a cone supporting the slab on the right. I will in time use a bigger cone, such as is between the mdf and rack.

    The result?

Dramatic improvement to soundsatge, reolution and dynamics. ALMOST night/day.

Theres a lot of potential here.

I find it astonishing that this could make such a difference.....guess I shouldn't be so surprised anymore

The AA5 comes with feet ...but they actually detract from the performance of the player ....

DavidF's aa5 is one that I've hacked about on the inside and on a recent side by side with a AAA5 was actually prefered by the AAA5 owner !

The principle here [that dave may have gone a little ott] is constrained damping....but the proof is in the listening and if dave says it sounds better then I'll go along with his assesment.

It may be that he's going down the multi element route like mana did ....

As an aside ...take a AA5 [unmodded] out of its steel case and it sound as good as a modded version in its case .....!

    davidf's iso feet
clean the pins of your plugs with duraglit[not forgetting the fuse]

I have read that granite slabs beneath Krell power amps improve them significantly. I looked into this and there are a few companies that custom make slabs for Krells. Whilst my Krell is away being super serviced I contacted a local granite workshop and they have made me a custom black polished slab. Hope to get Krell back next week. However my question is what should I stand the granite slab on - cones, sorbothane feet, wooden pointy things, stands unique carbon filters? The whole thnig because of weight and siting has no alternative than to be sat on bottom shelf of a stands unique stand (glass) - which is on points - (amazingly these things can take 250 kgs) the floor is concrete - so any thoughts - Pete? David? Oh and should the krell just sit on the slab or also be interfered with if you get my drift!?
